Established on July 15, 2003, Beijing Municipal Roadway Administration Bureau is take charge of the administrative management of the basic transportation facilities including highways, city roads, railways, railway crossing and etc in Beijing. Its main responsibilities include: to implement and execute the laws, codes and regulations on the basic transportation facilities such as highways, bridges and railways promulgated by the State and the city; to study and stipulate the annual scheme of building, repairing and maintaining the basic transportation facilities such as highways, bridges, railways and etc in Beijing, and organize the implementation; to take charge of the actual administration of the roadway administration in Beijing; to be take charge of the safety management of the railway crossing in Beijing; to take charge of the administration of collecting the road toll and highway fees; to be take charge of the safety management of highways, bridges, railways and corresponding supporting facilities; to take charge of the supervision and management of the biding for highway construction, repair and maintenance; to participate in the disaster protection and relief; to handle other issues delivered by the municipal government and the municipal committee of communications.
